THE CLIMATE AND WEATHER

Do you know why Indonesia is hot like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Iraq or Pakistan? Yes, right. Listen to me everyone. Indonesia is situated on equatorial line either on north or south tropical area. Then, Indonesia has tropical climate. Indonesia is very hot. Because of this, Indonesia has two seasons. They are dry season and rainy season. Both of seasons have different characteristics; its situation, condition, time and effects to the people.

After that, as you know that the wind blows from maximum pressure to minimum pressure or from low temperature to high temperature. Do you know how the wind blows in the dry season? In dry season, the wind blows from Australia continent to Asia continent through Indonesia. It happens because the sun is in the northern. The air maximum pressure is in Asia. Indonesia gets the dry season.

Do you think the problem in the dry season is? Right, the problem is that sometimes the dry season in Indonesia goes on along time. What may happen then? When the dry season goes on more than five months, the rivers, rice fields, and water resources get dried. It brings the suffering to the farmers and people. The farmers get difficulty to get water to irrigate their plants. That’s why, they usually can’t plant paddies, but only plant; cassava, corn, bean, onion, potato, and some other vegetables. And the people cannot fulfill the water need for their daily life.

The government has paid attention seriously to tackle the drought in the dry season. It has built the reservoirs to reserve water during the rainy season, and we can use the watetr in the dry season. In addition, the government has issued the logging law to prevent and to protect the forests destruction. By doing so, finally we have no problem with the water supply. Well, that’s all.
